Synopsys Photonic Solutions support all your cutting-edge photonic and PIC technologies!

In a time of autonomous driving, self-flying vehicles, and 5G networks, the need for reliable, robust photonic components and systems is higher than ever. With Synopsys Photonic Solutions, we are committed to providing you with the best software tools to simulate and design the components you need to build next-generation technologies. Our Photonic Solutions software tools cover a wide range of features, from photonic device development and PDK creation (RSoft Photonic Device Tools), system design (Photonic System Tools) and photonic IC design (PIC Design Suite). Integration with Sentaurus TCAD, HSPICE and IC Validator supports development of advanced electro-optical devices including modulators and photodetectors, electronic-photonic circuits, and sign-off DRC and LVS of PIC designs. With our interfaces to CODE V and LightTools, the RSoft Photonic Device Tools enable optical designers to develop leading-edge illumination and image-forming systems.

We are proud to help our customers innovate consumer and industrial communication, sensing, and imaging applications with our enhanced algorithms, new design capabilities, and faster simulations.

Thank you for your trust!

New Application Note: Simulation of Multi-Mode and Polarization in a Photonic Integrated Circuit

PIC Polarization | Synopsys

Multi-mode operation and polarization conversion/splitting are common design challenges in photonic integrated devices and circuits. It can be especially difficult to model them correctly and efficiently. In our latest PIC application note, we demonstrate how to address these challenges with our full design flow, which combines device (RSoft Photonic Device Tools), circuit simulation (OptSim Circuit), and layout tools (OptoDesigner). Read the application note.

Synopsys Photonic Solutions PDKs

Synopsys Photonic Solutions has the most comprehensive PIC foundry support in the industry, with Process Design Kits (PDKs) for photonic processes such as silicon, silicon nitride, indium phosphide, polymers, and silica-on-glass. Our PIC Design Suite has enabled more than 1,500 tape-outs.

Our Customer Support Portal lists all supported PDKs for Multi Project Wafer and runs, as well as details about supported tool versions and how to gain access to PDKs. The latest updates include:

  • The imec PDK now fully supports Synopsys PIC Design Suite bi-directional interface, combining the strengths of OptSim Circuit and OptoDesigner and supporting Schematic Drive Layout. The PDK contains technology-specific information including mask layer names, design rules, validated building blocks for both circuit simulation and layout generation, die templates, and GDS stream outsettings.

EUROPRACTICE offers access to imec Multi Project Wafer services, the schedule for the Multi Project Wafer runs can be found here.
