In Memoriam: Dr. Bruce (Jake) Jacobsen, Technical Marketing Manager

We are sad to announce that Dr. Bruce (Jake)  Jacobsen, Technical Marketing Manager, passed away on November 10, 2021. Jake began his 20-year career at Optical Research Associates (now the Optical Solutions Group at Synopsys) in the Customer Service Group, providing support and training for CODE V. Jake contributed to LightTools product management and subsequently, in 2010, became the Technical Marketing Manager for CODE V, LightTools, and LucidShape. He traveled internationally to support and train our customers, freely sharing his knowledge, warmth, and humor with all. He will be greatly missed by his colleagues at Synopsys, and by all in the optics community who knew him.

LucidDrive v2021.12 | Synopsys
LucidDrive v2021.12 | Synopsys

LucidDrive version 2021.12 offers enhanced features to dynamically validate and refine pixel light headlamp models. During night-driving simulations, you can now customize your experience by:

  • Defining a dimming matrix to quickly configure pixel light distributions
  • Using a dimming matrix to project user-defined icons onto the roadway, such as a turn arrow
  • Easily switching between dimming matrices manually or automatically with trigger points
  • Simulating cornering lamp functionality by shifting dimming matrices
  • Simulating headlight vertical swiveling by shifting dimming matrices

In addition, there are several new configurations to demonstrate and get you started taking advantage of these new pixel light features.

CODE V & LightTools Short Host ID Retirement

All short host IDs for CODE V and LightTools (e.g., 80-12345) will be retired in 2022. They will be replaced with long host IDs (e.g., 80-*1234567890ABCDE) associated with your existing dongles. For licenses locked to short host IDs:

  • If you renew your software licenses prior to February 2022, you will receive a new dongle.
  • If you renew after February 2022, you will be asked to provide the long host ID for your existing dongle, which we will use to generate a new license file for you.

You will be contacted by your local sales and support staff regarding the timing of your conversion. This will be necessary for you to use versions of CODE V and LightTools released in 2022.

Thank you for your understanding as we make this change.
