New Application Note: Hollow Antiresonant Fibers with Reduced Attenuation

For decades, scientists have been interested in hollow-core optical fibers (HCFs) for their low non-linear response, low latency and lower dispersion compared to solid fibers. A new HCF design – the hollow antiresonant fiber (HAF) -- surrounds the hollow core with a microstructure cladding composed of tubes attached to the jacket glass. Our finite element mode solver, FemSIM, can calculate the mode for HAF structures, find the attenuation loss, bending loss, and design a desired structure at needed band area.
