CODE V 10.8 Available Now

We are pleased to announce the availability of CODE V version 10.8.

Software and License File Download Instructions

Customers in the U.S., Canada, and Other Direct-Sales Locations

Software and license key files for CODE V product customers in the U.S., Canada and other direct-sales locations are available on the Synopsys SolvNet website. You will need the following to install CODE V version 10.8:

If you do not already have a SolvNet account, information on how to sign up for one can be found on our website.

  • License key file: You will need version 10.8 license key files for this CODE V release. This will replace your existing CODE V license file. You can download license key files from the SmartKeys page on SolvNet at https://solvnet.synopsys.com/SmartKeys.

Complete instructions for installing CODE V are available in the CODE V Installation Guide.

To learn more about navigating SolvNet to obtain CODE V software and license key files, view our SolvNet overview video.

International Customers

For international customers working with distributors, you will continue to obtain your software and license key files from your local CODE V software distributor. See the Synopsys Optical Solutions Group Global Contacts page for contact information. If your country is not listed on the Distributors page referenced above, please contact us at codev_support@synopsys.com for instructions.

Key New Features in CODE V 10.8

CODE V 10.8 includes the following key new features.

Enhanced Computations for Systems without Symmetry

CODE V 10.8 includes enhancements to enable accurate first-order computations for tilted and decentered systems, including:

  • The ABCD predefined function, which constructs a ray transfer matrix that represents derivatives of the base ray configuration at an ending surface with respect to changes in the position and direction of a base ray at a starting surface.

  • The firABCD.seq macro, which produces a table of first-order computations based on the ABCD matrix.

  • The @firABCD macro function, which provides macro access to the first-order computations produced by the firABCD.seq macro, and allows these quantities to be constrained in optimization.

Extended Formulation for Aspheric Surfaces

An extended formulation for Qbfs polynomial surfaces (SPS QBF) supports a non-zero conic constant (K).

Macro-PLUS Enhancements

CODE V 10.8 includes several new built-in optical functions, improved access to optical database information and updated example macros. This includes:

  • New and enhanced aperture database items, including ALB, APE, ASH, NUM APE, ORA, and ZPR database items.

  • Enhanced example macros:
    • MTFVSFLD adds field sampling and new charting.

    • DOESAG includes many updates, including an improved phase transition interpolation, new charting, and increases the array to 25,000 points.

    • SETVIG detects and reports vignetting due to ray failures, and provides an improved output format.

    • ZEMAXTOCV now supports conversion to Qcon and Qbfs surface types, and fixes several bugs.

Glass Catalog Updates

  • The CODE V glass catalog was updated for CDGM, Hikari, Hoya, Ohara, and Sumita.

  • The COST Analysis (COS) feature lists cost factors for the Schott, Ohara, CDGM and NHG catalogs, assuming a price of $10 per pound for the reference glass in each catalog.

  • CODE V has added the NHG glass catalog from Hubei New Huaguang Information Materials Co., Ltd. to the program’s materials library. The NHG catalog has been integrated into CODE V features such as Glass Expert (Optimization > Glass Expert menu), GLASSFIT macro (Lens > Glass Fitting menu), and VP_PLOT macro (Tools > Macro Manager menu, Sample Macros > Materials Information).

Floating License Server Updates

The Sentinel Floating License Manager used by CODE V has been updated to version 8.6.1. Please note the following:

  • Sentinel Floating License users must upgrade to version 8.6.1 in order to run CODE V 10.8.

  • Sentinel Floating License Manager version 8.6.1 supports CODE V versions prior to 10.8.

  • If other Sentinel Floating License Managers are installed on the network with versions prior to 8.6.1, the WLMAdmin program installed with version 8.6.1 cannot be used to administer them.

For more details about installing and using the Sentinel Floating License Manager, see the CODE V Installation Guide.
