CODE V 11.3 New Features

We are pleased to announce the release of CODE V 11.3. New features include:

CAD Model Import, Visualization, and Ray Tracing

  • New CAD Viewer window for importing STEP or IGES format CAD files, preparing CAD models for use in CODE V (e.g., grouping faces, renaming components, and deleting faces), and then saving the CAD model to a new CODE V .CFL file that can be associated with a surface.
  • New CAD Surface Type (CDS) allows CODE V to ray trace CAD model surface shapes defined within the .CFL file. CDS can be used either in sequential or non-sequential mode.
  • A .CFL file can also be associated with any surface (other than object or image) for CAD model visualization in 3D Viewing (V3D) and CAD Export (CXP).

3D Visualization Enhancements

  • Improvements to translucent rendering, including better translucent rendering of reflective surfaces.
  • Separate Visualization CAD and Lens System rendering modes.
  • New Invisible render mode.
  • Surface local coordinate system visualization within the 3D model.

Surface-Related Enhancements
  • Two new Freeform surface shapes: Q2D Freeform Asphere (SPS Q2D) and an Extended Fringe Zernike surface (SPS ZFE). Both surface types can include X & Y offsets of the aspheric departure from the surface coordinate system, and the ability to redefine the Z-axis of the surface coordinate system relative to the Z-axis of the base conic.
  • New 2D coefficient table for SPS Q2D and SPS ZFE provides controls to better visualize the symmetry conditions as well as the R and theta dependencies.
  • Support for surface conversions between the SPS ZFE surface type and other Zernike surface types (SPS ZRN and SPS ZFR) and between SPS Q2D and SPS QBF surface types.

Lens Data Manager Enhancements

  • GRIN coefficients now accept coupling codes to allow coefficients to vary, but be linked across wavelength.
  • GUI improvement to autosize columns that contain string data.

SpecBuilder & SpecEvaluator Enhancements

  • New built-in specifications have been added for chief ray and PSF centroid-based lateral color, element and system weight, and differential expansion of cemented components.

Macro-PLUS & COM Enhancements

  • Support for semi-colons within strings with the "$" operator.
  • New supplied macros for Fabrication Support: SAGPLOT.SEQ, SAG_DIFFERENCE.SEQ.
  • A new supplied macro primarily for opthalmic lens analysis: SURFACE_POWER_PLOT.SEQ.
  • ZEMAXTOCV.SEQ, our utility to convert .ZMX format files to CODE V, has been updated.
  • User tolerancing on encircled energy using the supplied macro TOLENC.SEQ has been improved to use the recently released Enclosed_Energy() macro function, and will now also support an ensquared energy computation.
  • Updated and new database items for CAD Surfaces, CAD visualization, and new freeform surface types.
  • New CodeV.Application API improves compatibility with all supported languages for CODE V 11.3 and later versions.
  • The ENVPIK collection of macros has been updated for CODE V 11.3. The required update for ENVPIK is available on the CODE V section of the Customer Support Portal on the Macro and User-Defined Feature Downloads page.

Software and License File Instructions

Direct-Sales Customers

Software and license key files for CODE V direct-sales customers are available on the Synopsys SolvNet website.

Distributor Customers

For customers working with distributors, you will continue to obtain your software and license keys from your local CODE V software distributor. See the Synopsys Optical Solutions Group Global Contacts page for contact information. Updated Floating License Manager

If you use the OSG Floating License Manager to manage licenses for client computers running CODE V 11.3, you must install the latest version of the OSG Floating License Manager that is made available with CODE V 11.3. The OSG Floating License Manager software is available from the same source that provides your CODE V software (e.g., SolvNet or your distributor). This version of the OSG Floating License Manager can also manage licenses for client computers running earlier versions of CODE V as well as LightTools and the LucidShape family of products.

Note that prior to installing the OSG Floating License Manager, you must first uninstall from the host server the following applications (made available with CODE V 11.2 or earlier) using the Windows Control Panel > Programs and Features:

  1. OSG Floating License Manager Admin Tool
  2. Sentinel RMS License Manager
