Topic 1 - Optical Design for AR/VR Devices
There are many optical components in augmented reality and virtual reality (AR/VR) devices, and optical design is one of the main challenges in the development of these products. In this talk, we will provide an overview of the optical design process for an AR/VR application, with a waveguided grating AR simulation workflow that can make the design more efficient, while considering uniformity, light efficiency, wider field of view (FOV), and different wavelengths. With the assistance of simulation tools, we can intuitively analyze the results and then optimize the parameters of grating structures to improve the optical performance.
Topic 2 - Case Study of Pancake VR System Design and Simulation
Virtual reality (VR) systems that feature pancake lenses can deliver optical performance as well as a competitive advantage in size, weight, and cost. Typically, a pancake lens includes three primary parts: a lens module, polarization elements, and human visual components. In order to fully explore the design of a pancake lens, cross-disciplinary collaboration is required, so this talk will demonstrate an integrated solution, using CODE V, RSoft DiffractMOD RCWA, and LightTools in a seamless, cross-product workflow.
