Synopsys Support of Present and Future Compute Platforms

The Synopsys Compute Platforms Roadmap gives customers a look ahead at Synopsys' compute platforms support plans for hardware architectures and operating systems. Synopsys products are not released on all the platforms listed in the Roadmap. The Synopsys SolvNet Download Center, is the best source of information on product/platform availability;

Foundation Changes

  • O-Foundation (2018.06, 2018.09, 2018.12)
    • Add Support for RHEL 7.3
    • Drop support for SLES 11.1 thru SLES 11.3
    • Drop support for Windows 8, Windows 8.1, Windows 2012, and Windows 2012-R2
  • N-Foundation (2017.09, 2017.12, 2018.03):
    • No change to platform support from M-Foundation
  • M-Foundation (2016.12, 2017.03, 2017.06):
    • Drop support for RHEL 5.x 
    • Drop support for RHEL 6.0 thru RHEL 6.5
  • L-Foundation (2016.03, 2016.06, 2016.09):
    • No change to platform support from K-Foundation
    • SUSE Linux moves to Binary Compatible using RedHat Linux Binaries
  • K-Foundation (2015.06, 2015.09, 2015.12)
    • Add Support for RHEL 7.1
    • Add Support for SLES12
    • Drop Support for SPARC Solaris 10
    • IBM AIX support moves to AIX 7.1
  • J-Foundation (2014.06, 2014.09, 2014.12, 2015.03)
    • J-Foundation extended for an additional quarter through 2015.03

Synopsys Synchronized Release Model (SRM)

The Synopsys Synchronized Release Model is a schedule-driven release model.

  • Releases are at fixed-dates known as Release Opportunities (RO)
  • There are four ROs/year for Feature Releases
  • There are eight ROs/year for Service Pack Releases
  • Individual products define their release frequency
  • All product releases are developed and tested on a defined set of common platform configuration and common code baseline – referred to as Foundation.

A Foundation can change every 9 months. Operating System changes are typically scheduled every 36 months to keep up with market demand and vendor releases. Synopsys typically builds on a single operating system baseline version for each SRM Foundation.
