The Extended Adaptive Multi-Rate Wideband (AMR WB+) speech codec extends GSM AMR WB to support stereo signals and higher sampling frequencies. The codec also uses transform coding to increase the audio quality further. Both mobile telecommunication and voice over IP (VoIP) networks adopt the codec, as well as video broadcast standards such as DVB.

Highlights & Key Features

  • Compliant to 3GPP TS 26.290
  • Compression technology for mixed speech and audio content
  • Wide range of bit rates:
    • 6 to 36Kbps for mono
    • 7 to 48Kbps for stereo
  • Delivers high-quality music, speech-over-music, and speech-between-music solutions
  • All AMR-WB speech codec modes 1-9
  • AMR-WB VAD and DTX
  • AMR-WB+ extends the AMR-WB codec by adding TCX, bandwidth extension, and stereo
