The Synopsys Automotive Virtualizer™ Development Kit (Auto VDK) is a comprehensive virtual prototyping solution with the ability to execute unmodified binary production software, closely mirroring real hardware behavior. It helps automotive software teams overcome industry challenges by enabling the development, integration, and testing of electronic control units (ECUs) and vehicle systems in a virtual environment before physical hardware becomes available.
Synopsys is the only company providing a complete range of virtual ECU (vECU) simulation technologies from Level 1 through Level 4 vECU abstraction. The Auto VDK realizes the Level 4 vECU abstraction and enables within a multi-abstraction electronics digital twin (eDT) important and highly valuable use cases across the entire ECU development and product lifecycle.
With the largest model library, Auto VDK combines virtual MCU models that can execute unmodified binary production software, with advanced software productivity tools. Those virtual MCU models are developed through semiconductor partnerships, enabling MCU centric SW development and test use cases. The VDKs can be extended towards vECU models representing full OEM/Tier1 specific ECU boards.
This approach allows verification and validation teams to identify and resolve issues early, accelerate innovation, and reduce costs by shifting left the validation and integration activities earlier in the development process, accelerating time-to-market by up to a year.
