Introduction

India's semiconductor ecosystem is at an inflection point. As AI, advanced computing, automotive electronics, and intelligent systems drive unprecedented demand for silicon, the opportunity for India extends beyond design services to creating more products, IP, startups, and technology leadership.

This momentum was evident at SEMICON India 2026, which brought together industry leaders, startups, investors, academia, and policymakers from across the semiconductor value chain. With participation from more than 600 exhibitors, around 300 international companies, and stakeholders representing 52 countries, the event reflected both the scale of the opportunity and the growing importance of India's semiconductor ecosystem.

As a Gold Sponsor, Synopsys supported the Startup Pavilion and Silicon Pitch Live Session, engaging with startups, customers, investors, and ecosystem partners focused on accelerating innovation from concept to silicon. Synopsys also contributed to key conversations across technology, startup innovation, and talent development, reflecting the industry's need to advance not only semiconductor capabilities, but also the ecosystem and workforce that will power future growth.

Synopsys Perspectives Across Technology, Innovation, and Talent

SEMICON India provided an opportunity for Synopsys leaders to contribute to discussions spanning semiconductor innovation, ecosystem development, and talent growth.

  • Technology and Design Enablement: In the fireside chat, "From Concept to Silicon: Strengthening India's Design Enablement and Test Ecosystem," Amit Khanuja, VP, R&D Engineering, IP Group, Synopsys, joined Hitesh Garg, Corporate Vice President and India Country Manager, NXP Semiconductors, in a discussion moderated by Dr. S. D. Sudarsan, Executive Director, C-DAC. The conversation highlighted India's opportunity to expand ownership of semiconductor products and IP, the growing role of AI in improving engineering productivity, and the importance of bringing verification and test considerations earlier into the design cycle.
  • Startup Innovation: Sudeep Shivalli, Regional Senior Director, GTM, Synopsys, presented at the IESA Startup Mitra Silicon Pitch Live Session, sharing perspectives on enabling startup growth and strengthening India's semiconductor innovation ecosystem.
  • People and Inclusion: Supriya Sharma, Regional People Leader, Synopsys, participated in the Women Empowerment Track, joining leaders from across the industry in discussions on leadership journeys, workplace success, career growth, sponsorship, mentoring, networking, and allyship. The session reinforced the importance of creating environments where diverse talent can thrive and contribute to the future of semiconductor innovation.

Supporting Startup Innovation

One of the highlights of our participation was the opportunity to engage directly with India's emerging semiconductor startups. Through the Silicon Pitch Live Session, startups showcased their innovations, connected with investors, and gained visibility within the broader semiconductor ecosystem.

The session also brought together a distinguished venture capital jury, reinforcing the connection between innovation and investment. The six-member jury included Aadith Ramesh (Peak XV Partners), Aashish Gupta (IvyCap Ventures), Abhishek Sud (Applied Ventures), Adarsh Sekhar (Lam Capital and Lam Research India), Aviral Pandey (AktiVentures), and Sunil Cavale (Speciale Invest), who evaluated the startup pitches and shared valuable industry and investment perspectives.

To help promising innovators advance their development journey, Synopsys contributed FlexEDA Cloud credits for the top startup winners, providing access to design tools, compute infrastructure, and resources that can help accelerate semiconductor design, verification, and development.

Congratulations to the winning startups!

Beyond recognizing innovation, the initiative reflects a broader Synopsys objective: helping startups gain access to the technology, infrastructure, and ecosystem connections needed to move from concept to silicon more efficiently.

Looking Ahead

SEMICON India 2026 highlighted the progress India is making in building a stronger semiconductor ecosystem and the increasingly important role startups are playing in that journey.

For Synopsys, participation was about more than event presence. It was an opportunity to engage with entrepreneurs, customers, investors, policymakers, and ecosystem partners. The conversations reinforced that building a globally competitive semiconductor ecosystem requires progress across technology, infrastructure, talent, inclusion, and collaboration.

The most meaningful outcomes from events like SEMICON India are not defined by what happens during the event, but by what happens next: the startups enabled, the partnerships formed, and the innovations that move from concept to silicon. We look forward to continuing to work alongside the ecosystem to help accelerate the future of semiconductor innovation in India.
