Process Design Kits

OptoDesigner has the most comprehensive photonic foundry support in the industry, with more than 30 Process Design Kits (PDKs) available from foundries around the world for photonic processes such as silicon, silicon nitride, indium phosphide, polymers, and silica on glass. OptoDesigner has enabled more than 500 tapeouts (including commercial designs) over the last three years.

We support all technologies:

  • SiO2/SiN technologies, including polymers, silica and more

Setting Up Your Own PDK

Synopsys’ PDK development services kick-start design teams with setting up foundry-specific compact models, building block definitions, and generating layouts and required design verification rules.

PDKs are a plug-in library for the design environment and are available either directly from Synopsys or from the foundry. Supplied PDKs are compliant with the PDAFlow standard and are compatible with all software supporting this standard.

Obtaining PIC Foundry PDKs

Our PIC Design Suite is used by many designers around the world to access MPW services and work directly with R&D facilities and commercial foundries. On our Customer Support Portal (, you will find an overview with the contact details to obtain the PDK installer for your foundry of choice.
