Google Accelerates Tensor SoC Thermal Validation and Silicon Bring-Up

Google leveraged Synopsys ZeBu® emulation technology and hardware-assisted verification (HAV) methodologies to perform comprehensive pre-silicon power and thermal validation for its Tensor® SoC used in Pixel devices.

By validating complex interactions across hardware, firmware, software, power management, and thermal controls before tape-out, Google reduced post-silicon risk, accelerated silicon bring-up, and completed approximately 50% of its power validation test cases prior to silicon availability.

What You Will Learn

  • How Google used Synopsys ZeBu Server 5 and HAV methodologies to validate power, performance, and thermal behavior across more than 1,100 DVFS states in a complex mobile SoC.

  • Best practices for performing system-level pre-silicon validation of thermal management, power sequencing, firmware, software, and PMIC interactions before tape-out.

  • How early power and thermal verification can reduce post-silicon debug effort, accelerate silicon bring-up, and improve overall product readiness for advanced AI-powered devices.
