Charlie Matar is the Chief IP Development Officer of Synopsys, an industry-leading company delivering engineering solutions from silicon to systems powering the era of pervasive intelligence. Charlie leads the global organizations responsible for the development of Synopsys’ Intellectual Property (IP) portfolio, including interface IP for HPC, mobile, automotive and consumer, foundation IP, and Security IP as well as design solutions and services for full System on Chips (SoC).
He is a technology executive with a strong background in building and scaling high-performance business units and global engineering teams. He has a proven track record of overseeing multiple projects, guiding them from product definition, SoC and IP development to production ramp using advanced process technologies in market segments including high-performance computing, AI custom silicon, PC/client, mobile, automotive, and IoT/wearable devices.
Prior to joining Synopsys, he held executive roles at TSMC North America, Intel, AMD, and Qualcomm. Charlie has a BSEE in semiconductor physics from the University of Texas, Austin, and an MSEE in microelectronics from Southern Methodist University.
