In 2021, the Synopsys Cybersecurity Research Center (CyRC) analyzed more than 3,000 popular Android applications. We explored the most-downloaded and highest-grossing applications across 18 categories. We analyzed each application in three core areas of mobile application security:
- Vulnerabilities
- Information leakage
- Mobile device permissions
This paper examines the research findings specifically from the financial services industry (FSI) and its mobile applications. The analysis reveals that the majority of applications in the FSI contain known vulnerabilities, exposed data, and excessive permissions.
