Design Challenges
The design of signal processing algorithms is a determining factor in the performance and functionality of complex SoCs. Algorithm designers must quickly and easily define the mathematical representations that meet the design's requirements and then translate them to bit-true fixed-point specifications to evaluate quantization effects before declaring the algorithms suitable for implementing them into either hardware or software.

Solution
System Studio addresses these design challenges by providing a powerful, model-based electronic system level (ESL) design creation, simulation and analysis environment that is tightly integrated within the Synopsys Discovery™ Verification Platform. It is all about getting you to results faster.

System Studio supports complex signal processing functions such as multi-antenna receiver algorithms, multimedia processing, wireless algorithm and communication standards compliance. It offers a rich set of analysis functions that help address the imperfections introduced by transmission, non-ideal analog components, and fixed-point digital implementation in speech, multimedia and internet connectivity. Its unique dataflow simulation engine provides the simulation performance necessary to explore multiple design scenarios in a short period of time. Its fixed-point simulation acceleration sets it apart from any other solution on the market, supporting IEEE-standardized SystemC fixed-point notations while achieving a speed improvement of 10x for typical mixed floating-point/fixed-point simulation and up to 200x for fixed-point only simulation. Its multicore matrix and vector support allows for very concise notations similar to those from the Matlab® modeling language, while achieving a simulation speedup of 20x and more over such approaches.

System Studio's intuitive graphical user interface and extensive DSP model libraries and reference design kits (RDKs) help designers to become productive right away. To enable the seamless reuse of algorithms as reference models for either hardware or software implementations, System Studio designs can be easily exported to any such hardware or software verification flow, either as C/C++ functions or as SystemC modules.

System Studio supports the most efficient deployment of multicore and multi-processor configuration. Iterations of a simulation, representing different parameter configurations, are automatically distributed to the available processor nodes, while the results are merged into a single, comprehensive report. As an example, a complete bit error rate curve can be computed in parallel rather than waiting for the sequential computation of each point on the curve. This directly translates to higher productivity – getting you to results faster.
