Philippe Young (PhD)
Professor (University of Exeter), Engineering Director (Synopsys)

Prof Young holds joint appointments as both the Synopsys Chair in Computational Mechanics at the University of Exeter, as well as a position as the Engineering Director of the Synopsys Simpleware Product Group. Prior to acquisition by Synopsys in 2016, the Simpleware Product Group was Simpleware Ltd., a spin-out from the University of Exeter founded and managed by Prof Young. Prof Young was recently appointed as an Honorary Professor at the China University of Geosciences (Wuhan), China, creating new opportunities for UK and Chinese partnerships.

Matthew Howard
Application Engineer, Simpleware Products (Synopsys)

Mr Howard graduated in mechanical engineering from University of Exeter, UK in 2016 with an emphasis in finite element methods and computational fluid dynamics. He joined Synopsys in 2016 as an Application Engineer, providing on-site and remote technical support, software training and workflow integration to Simpleware software customers worldwide.

Chunze Yan (PhD)
Professor (Huazhong University of Science and Technology)

Prof Yan focuses on enhancing the performance, sustainability and value of innovative products by utilizing emerging materials and manufacturing technologies and digital design, business and social solutions. Prof Yan’s major research interests currently lie in the development of novel materials and manufacturing processes (e.g. additive manufacturing and 3D printing). These solutions are capable of providing creative, sustainable and personalized products for public users and high value industrial sectors (i.e. aerospace, medical, creative industries).

Liang Hao (PhD)
Professor (China University of Geosciences)

Prof Hao joined the China University of Geosciences (Wuhan) as a professor through a “100 talents” programme. Prof Hao has worked to set up a 3D printing research center and build a cross-disciplinary team to perform cutting edge research on advanced materials and manufacturing. Applications include personalized consumer goods, geo-science testing models, intelligent wearable devices, and functional foods and medicines. Prof Hao has been awarded two grants from the National Natural Science Foundation of China and has secured over 10 million RMB in internal and external research funding.
