PDK LioniX International (TriPleX-ADS)

The TriPleX-ADS Design Kit contains the building blocks for the Multi Project Wafer runs offered by LioniX

This PDK is a plug-in library for OptoDesigner and OptSim Circuit and supports the Multi Project Wafer runs provided by LioniX International for their TriPleX™ Asymmetric double stripe (ADS) technology. In addition to the photonic elements from the standard library, the PDK contains technology-specific information like mask layer names, design rules, validated building blocks, die templates for layout generation and export file generation capabilities.

  2. Material and cross-sectional information for simulations (like mode analysis including sweep on e.g. line width or silicon layer thickness variations)
  3. Die templates
  4. Set of validated building blocks, also with compact models for OptSim Circuit:
    • Modulator
    • Spot size convertor
    • Heater
    • Y-junction
    • Directional coupler
    • Straight, Arc, S-bend
  5. Design Rules
  6. GDS generation

About TriPleX

TriPleX is a new class of low-loss integrated optical waveguide structures as CMOS-compatible industrial standard for photonic integration on silicon or glass. The cross sections range between box shapes, single stripe, and double stripes. The latter coming in two forms; the symmetric double stripe and the asymmetric double stripe (ADS). Finally, the TriPleX family has a buried waveguide for very thick nitride layers. Modal characteristics, birefringence, footprint size, and insertion loss are controlled by design of the geometry.
