PIXAPP Summer Software Training 2018

Synopsys presents a 2.5-day training on photonic design for packaging in the framework of project PIXAPP. The training is aimed at application and R&D engineers as well as managers interested in understanding the development of PICs and the role of software automation in their design, simulation, and fabrication procedures.

RSoft Component Tools

Synopsys will describe the components of an Assembly Design Kit (ADK) and a Process Design Kit (PDK). This training will feature live training and hands-on demonstration of the Synopsys PIC Design Tools for a top-down design flow using OptoDesigner. During the hands-on session, attendees will have the opportunity to work directly with the software under the guidance of technical staff from the company.

Day 2 - Tuesday, June 12th, 2018

  • Morning - Hands-on session: Introduction to OptoDesigner
    • Relative Connectivity : Use of mask layout elements
    • Autorouting module : Automation of Optical and Electrical connections within a PIC Desig
    • Building Block creation : Definition of user specific mask layout elements - Create your own building block library
    • Design Rule Checking : Verification of a PIC Design 
       
  • Afternoon - Hands-on session : Use of specific software modules within the project framework
    • Structure and Functionalities of an ADK in OptoDesigner
      • 3D element use and visualization in OptoDesigner : Packaging overview
      • Electrical simulation of ADK elements
      • Assembly step definition and DRC : Error avoidance on assembly steps - Advanced use of an ADK

 

Day 3 - Wednesday, June 13th, 2018

  • Morning - Technology use for users
    • Hands-on session : Design with experts - Application cases
    • Round table with End Users
    • Lab tour

Registration and Fees

This training is free for all project members. Registration is mandatory to ensure available infrastructure resources.

Non-project members : 100 EUR

Requirements

We ask for all participants to bring their own laptop with full administrative rights, as well as to make sure their laptops fulfill the following minimum system requirements:

  • Windows 7 or newer (64 bits)
  • WiFi card
  • 3 GB free hard disk space
  • 2 GB RAM memory
  • 1 USB port

During the training sessions, the participants will be required to install a third party software that will allow them to access a cloud-base service, where the PIC Design Tools are pre-installed for their convenience.
