Synopsys PIC Training – East Coast. From Idea to Fabrication

The University of Rochester and Synopsys present a four-day training course on design for photonic integrated circuits (PICs). The course will help academic and corporate participants understand the development of PICs and the role of software automation in PIC design, simulation, and fabrication.

Participants will receive an overview of the integrated photonics eco-system, together with an introduction to Synopsys PIC design tools and how they support integrated photonics design and manufacturing.

The course will feature live demonstrations and a hands-on session using Synopsys PIC design tools for PDK-driven PIC design. During the hands-on session, participants will have the opportunity to work directly with the software under the guidance of expert technical staff from Synopsys.

Registration Information

The training is free for all attendees that register to the event.
Limited to 40 seats.


We ask for all participants to bring their own laptop with full administrative rights, as well as to make sure their laptops fulfill the following minimum system requirements:

  • Windows 7 or newer, 64 bits (no MacOS or Linux supported)
  • WiFi card
  • 3 GB free hard disk space
  • 2 GB RAM memory
  • 1 USB port

During the training sessions, the participants will be required to install a third party software that will allow them to access a cloud-base service, where the PIC Design Tools are pre-installed for their convenience.
