The International Optical Design Conference (IODC) is held every 4 years and gathers optical designers, scientists, and engineers from around the world to discuss the latest developments in the optical design industry.   A wide variety of optical design disciplines and topics are covered in both an informal and formal settings.  Topics covered this year will be illumination system fabrication, surface representation in lens design, desensitizing designs and reduction in cost, beam shaping, micro-optics, polarization, and computational imaging.  The solutions and winners to the previously proposed design problems are also announced.

“Parametric Model of Volumetric Scattering”

Abstract: We develop a way to find volumetric scattering model parameter values based on measured BSDF characteristics. Example models often use Mie or Gegenbauer particles. The accuracy and flexibility of this approach are illustrated.
