Software and License File Download Instructions

Customers in the U.S., Canada, and Other Direct-Sales Locations

Software and license key files for RSoft product customers in the U.S., Canada and other direct-sales locations are available on the Synopsys SolvNet website. You will need the following to install the latest RSoft products:

  • RSoft product software: You can download the RSoft products at http://solvnet.synopsys.com/DownloadCenter
If you do not already have a SolvNet account, information on how to sign up for one can be found on our website.
  • License key file: For the RSoft System Tools 2015.12 release, you will need version 2015.12 license key files. For the Component Design Suite 2015.06-2 release, you will need 2015.06 license key files. You can download license key files from the SmartKeys page on SolvNet at https://solvnet.synopsys.com/SmartKeys
  • SCL installer: SCL is automatically included with the Windows RSoft installers. You will only need to separately download SCL for Linux installations. You will need SCL version 11.7 or higher of Synopsys Common Licensing from the Electronic Software Transfer (EST) System on SolvNet. You can download this from https://solvnet.synopsys.com/DownloadCenter/dc/product.jsp.

Complete instructions about obtaining your RSoft products software, license key files and the SCL installer are available in the RSoft Installation Guide.

Key New Features in the RSoft System Tools 2015.12 Release

RSoft System Tools

The RSoft System Tools 2015.12 Release is now available and includes the following updates.

SCL Update:

  • Implements a new RSoft installer executable for Windows that embeds the required Synopsys Common Licensing (SCL) installer, as well as streamlines the installation process. Users will now only have to download and install a single file, reducing potential confusion. The number of installation steps has been reduced from about 15 screens to about 8 screens.

GUI:

  • Ability to search components and projects by keywords, making it easier to find components and application notes in the GUI.

OptSim:

  • The OptSim DSP Library now supports MATLAB functions for BER estimation in transmission systems with m-PAM.
OptSim:

OptSim Circuit:

  • Interface with IPKISS from Luceda Photonics for layout generation of schematics using IMEC PDK elements. OptSim Circuit can now export a netlist which Luceda Photonic’s IPKISS can use to automatically synthesize a mask layout, further enhancing the photonic integrated circuit design flow from system-level simulation to fabrication.
  • Support for IMEC PDK v1.4, for state-of-the-art Si photonic design and simulation.
  • New application note: “TW-MZM: Performance studies due to wafer-to-wafer (WTW) and run-to-run (RTR) variations in the silicon photonic foundry processes.”

ModeSYS:

  • Addition of CW Mode Combiner model.
  • Support for user-specified launch conditions for the large-core, step-index multimode fiber.
  • Support for plots of MPD (regular multimode fiber) and intensity/EAF (large-core step-index fiber) at multiple positions within a multimode fiber.

For more information about this release, please see the RSoft System Tools 2015.12 Release Notes.

Key New Features in the RSoft Component Design Suite 2015.06 Service Release 2

Service Release 2 Available

The RSoft Component Design Suite 2015.16 Service Release 2 (2015.06-2), now available, provides the following updates:

  • Implements a new RSoft installer executable for Windows that embeds the required Synopsys Common Licensing (SCL) installer, as well as streamlines the installation process. Users will now only have to download and install a single file, reducing potential confusion. The number of installation steps has been reduced from about 15 screens to about 8 screens.
  • The licensing policy has been changed to allow a single license to utilize the full computing power of a single computer. This allows users to take full advantage of multi-core and multi-CPU computing systems. As before, the number of concurrent simulation jobs on one computer is unlimited. Users with a network license can fully utilize two computers for simulation. In all cases, note that the number of concurrent users of the CAD tools (RSoft CAD and the OptSim CAD) is limited to the number of licenses.
  • Improved the RSoft BSDF UDOP, including faster LightTools simulations.
  • Miscellaneous bug fixes.

Please refer to the RSoft Component Design Suite 2015.06-2 readme file, available on SolvNet, for more details about these and other updates included in the release.
