LucidShape Lite 2017.03-1

We are pleased to announce the availability of LucidShape® Lite version 2017.03 Service Release 1 (2017.03-1).

In this issue:

New Automotive Benchmark in LucidShape Lite 2017.03-1

In addition to the highly technical TC4-45 headlamp benchmark and the on-road “consumer report” benchmark available in previous releases, this version of LucidShape Lite includes the IIHS Headlight benchmark, which is based on U.S. Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) guidelines.

The new benchmark allows you to analyze the performance of a beam pattern (.LID files) for low and high beams per the relevant IIHS rating and protocol content as of version 2 (November 2016). The IIHS benchmark includes:

  • Illuminance-based visibility range testing on road
  • Dosage-based glare test for oncoming traffic
  • Overall rating results (good – poor)

The following figure shows a regular false color Bird’s Eye View generated in LucidShape Lite 2017.03-1 with a 5-lux illuminance isoline plot measured at a 25 cm above-road detection height. This was created using IIHS protocol-derived parameters to create the Bird’s Eye View from a low beam pattern and subsequently using the custom isoline functionality in the UVdataView’s properties.

The figure below shows the IIHS headlight benchmark workflow chart in LucidShape 2017.03-1. The benchmark requires the headlight geometry, test settings, the definition of the beam patterns for low and high beams, and the appropriate aiming angles. You can display results in a short report or export them in a .CSV data file with detailed detector data.

Issues Resolved in LucidShape Lite 2017.03-1

This service release corrects several issues, including the following:

  • Corrects an issue where Driver View results did not match between context menu function and static road scene.
  • Corrects an issue where Bird’s Eye View results did not match between context menu function and static road scene.
  • Fixes an issue where Bird’s Eye View could cause LucidShape to freeze when using wrong parameters.
  • Updates Test Tables for turn signals: ECE motorcycle R50, FMVSS 108.
  • Prints IIHS headlight benchmark glare demerits correctly in the .CVS export file.
  • Corrects Fixed License Installer error messaging.

Beginning with version 2017.03, software and license keys for all LucidShape products are available on the Synopsys SolvNet website. Please review the following sections for instructions.

Direct-Sales Customers
Software and license keys for LucidShape direct-sales customers are available on the Synopsys SolvNet website.

  • License key: You do not need a new license key for LucidShape Lite 2017.03-1. License keys for version 2017.03 are valid to use for this release. If you need a license key, you can download it from the SmartKeys page on SolvNet at
