PrimeTime Special Interest Group (SIG) at SNUG Japan 2014

The Synopsys PrimeTime SIG is an active community for all PrimeTime users and design engineers who want to stay connected with the latest developments in the field of Static Timing Analysis (STA).

PrimeTime SIG at SNUG Japan 2014
A PrimeTime SIG event, Accelerating Timing Closure with Advanced Technologies, was held in Tokyo, Japan, during SNUG Japan on September 19, 2014.

Customer speakers from Fujitsu and Toshiba presented their timing closure experiences with PrimeTime advanced timing technologies, and were joined by Panasonic, Renesas and Synopsys R&D for a panel discussion. PrimeTime users and managers from top semiconductor companies attended the event.


Wataru Shibamoto


Wataru provided insight into the challenges of gigascale hierarchical designs in his recent 100M+ instance project tapeout. He shared how PrimeTime HyperScale was able to provide bounding context for multi-instance modules (MIM) and accelerate block-level timing closure in the hierarchical design, and how HyperScale accelerated his ECO iteration turnaround time by 1.6X. He also shared his evaluation results of the latest 2014 PrimeTime release that provided 2X faster runtime compared to 2013 versions. 

Toshiyuki Sakamoto


Toshiyuko shared how the PrimeTime advanced ECO technologies accelerated design closure on recent designs. He highlighted how PrimeTime leakage recovery achieved additional power reduction with no impact to signoff timing. He provided an example where SMVA can reduce the number of signoff scenarios by 4X. He also shared how PrimeTime physically-aware ECO significantly improved single-pass fix rate with on-route buffering.
