Synopsys continues contributing in making Yerevan greener and healthier as part of its CSR program

Synopsys Armenia partners with Yerevan Municipality and Armenian Tree Project (ATP) for its traditional tree planting

On November 29, 2014 Synopsys Armenia held its traditional tree planting event in cooperation with Shengavit administrative district municipality and its constant partner ATP. About 200 employees of Synopsys Armenia, their family members and the students of the Synopsys Armenia Education Department (SAED) planted 500 native Armenian trees including Ash, Maple, Judas, Smog, Tamaris and Acacia trees.

The tree planting took place at the Pantheon Park, which had been cleaned with joint volunteering efforts of more than 160 Synopsys Armenia employees and SAED students earlier this September.

Adding on Synopsys efforts to preserve and promote healthy environment, this year the campaign features an additional initiative that aims to address social challenges of the local communities. During November 17-28 in frame of the tree planting project, the ATP and Shengavit District Municipality implemented sanitary cutting of all the dried trees, unhealthy and unnecessary branches. All the wood collected as a result of copping was distributed to 200 families in need as a contribution to winter preparations.

"This is the 10th tree planting event of Synopsys Armenia. During these years Synopsys Armenia employees planted about 7000 trees making Yerevan greener and healthier," said Anwar Awad, the CEO of Synopsys Armenia.

"Just as Armenia Tree Project plants the seeds to ensure the long-term sustainability of Armenia's environment, Synopsys invests in the sustainability of Armenia's future in high-tech. Therefore it's only natural for our two organizations to collaborate in shaping Armenia's future. We are proud to partner with Synopsys, for this 9th consecutive year, and look forward to many more years of cooperation in the Community Tree Planting initiative," said ATP Country Director Lucineh Kassarjian.
