Scientific conference “University-Industry Cooperation: Accelerating Innovation” was held at Synopsys Armenia

On May 15, 2013, Synopsys Armenia R&D center hosted a scientific conference under the theme “University-Industry Cooperation: Accelerating Innovation” dedicated to the 80th anniversary of State Engineering University of Armenia (SEUA). The main aim of the conference was to stipulate the exchange of ideas on the topic of university-industry cooperation, as well as to offer innovative approaches in the area. The conference was sponsored by Synopsys Armenia CJSC and SEUA Alumni Association.

About 100 people from public, scientific and entrepreneurial including representatives from Ministry of Education and Science, Ministry of Economy, Ministry of Transport and Communication, National Academy of Science, leading organizations in the sphere of IT and telecommunications, State Engineering University of Armenia, Yerevan State University, European Regional Academy, Russian-Armenian (Slavonic) University, American University of Armenia, Artsakh State University spheres participated at the conference.

“Information and communication technologies are economic priority for our country, and it is extremely important that leading companies in ICT closely cooperate with universities, primarily to prepare qualified specialists for the industry,” said the Conference Organizational Committee Chair, the President of the SEUA Alumni Association Hovik Musayelyan. “Polytechnic has always been supplying high quality engineers to the manufacturing sector. SEUA Alumni Association together with Synopsys Armenia, sponsors this important event, and considers the promotion of mutually beneficial cooperation between university and industry one of its main objectives.”

“Such joint discussions on the accumulated experience and new initiatives on the university-industry cooperation among the ministry, university and business leaders and professionals will undoubtedly contribute to the increase of qualifications of professionals in training,” said the Conference Program Committee Chair, the Director of Synopsys Armenia Educational Department, Honorable Scientist of Armenia, Professor Vazgen Melikyan.

“The educational model developed jointly by the State Engineering University of Armenia and Synopsys Armenia is a successful example of cooperation. I welcome Synopsys Armenia and the idea to organize such a conference. It once again proves the company’s dedication to education sphere and the willingness to support it. I am sure that topics discussed at the conference will bring new light on how to improve university-industry cooperation, as well as will allow to find new ways to strengthen the ties between university and private sector,” said SEUA Rector, professor Ara Avetisyan.

Alumni Association of the Yerevan Polytechnic Institute (SEUA) has been created in 2001 in order to promote public relations at State Engineering University of Armenia.
