Synopsys Software Integrity Group receives Red Hat Partner Award

Synopsys and Red Hat have established a world-class partnership to enable open source management and application security testing in container environments.

Synopsys Software Integrity Group receives Red Hat Partner Award

By Joe Gomes and Dave Meurer

Leading up to Red Hat Summit 2019, Synopsys Software Integrity Group and Red Hat were already working together to bring innovative solutions to the open source, development, and container communities. And Red Hat has set the bar high, pioneering the open source cause since 1993. So we were thrilled—yet humbled—to receive the Red Hat Partner Portfolio Alignment Award at the Red Hat Summit awards ceremony earlier this month. This award recognizes the work Synopsys and Red Hat have performed as alliance partners working on joint solutions (see more about those below).

Building a world-class alliance takes collaboration to execute on common goals. To accomplish this, Synopsys’ and Red Hat’s similar cultures provided the key ingredients: the right people with transparent, cooperative, customer-centric attitudes.

Together, Synopsys and Red Hat continue to work toward world-class leadership in our respective sectors. For example, Gartner has recognized Synopsys as a market leader in application security and software quality testing. And Red Hat set the marker for open source, as evidenced when IBM acquired the company for $34 billion in October 2018.

Let’s look at some of the work on joint solutions for OpenShift 4, Operator, OpsSight, and RHEL 8 that led to this award.

Black Duck OpsSight and OpenShift 4

For two years, Synopsys has built and maintained OpsSight, a world-class integration between Black Duck®, Synopsys’ software composition analysis solution, and Red Hat OpenShift. OpsSight automatically identifies and monitors open source software in container images when deployed in OpenShift. OpsSight also supports CRI-O, the new container runtime optimized for OpenShift.

Synopsys Operator

Synopsys and Red Hat worked closely together to create and certify Synopsys Operator, a solution that helps customers easily deploy our application security testing tools in container orchestration environments. Synopsys Operator is now available at OperatorHub.io and on the OpenShift 4 Operator Hub.

RHEL 8

By participating in the Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 Early Adopter Program, Synopsys product management and quality assurance teams could begin supporting Black Duck on the RHEL 8 operating system.

Synopsys and Red Hat will continue to work together to bring you even more innovative solutions for open source, development, and containerization. Subscribe to our blog to stay informed, or learn more here.
