Synopsys began formally donating to our local communities in 1992 under the leadership of employee-led Corporate Giving Committees at our largest sites. This program provides an opportunity to connect our corporate values with those most in need in our local communities.
Synopsys is dedicated to advancing STEM education opportunities that contribute to the growth and development of our future technology leaders. In 1999, the Synopsys Foundation was created to strategically donate to organizations with either a strong focus on math and science education or that help those most in need in our local communities. On a yearly basis, the Synopsys Foundation provides approximately $1.9 million in grant funding to areas where Synopsys has a major business presence.
Synopsys offices around the world partner with local organizations to provide donations that support the unique needs of the local community. To that end, we do not accept unsolicited grants. Through this approach, employees and the Synopsys Foundation develop partnerships with a targeted number of programs. We work with Silicon Valley Community Foundation and Give2Asia to support our local offices’ work with partner organizations.
Synopsys is focused on hands-on learning for students and teachers, so the majority of our funding goes to those program costs. On occasion, Synopsys will support fundraising events by nonprofit organizations where we have a long-term education partnership. These are very limited in size and scope.
Due to the large number of event sponsorship requests that we receive and our funding focus, Synopsys does not sponsor charitable fundraising events such as walks/runs, etc. As an alternative, through our matching gift program, we offer a Team Match. Please see the matching gift program for more details on Team Match.
