Synopsys Supports Local Youth for Global Volunteer Week 

During the week of May 11-18, 2013 Synopsys held its first Global Volunteer Week at five sites: Bangalore, India; Hillsboro, Oregon; Mountain View, California; Hsinchu and Taipei Taiwan; and Shanghai, China. In total, nearly 800 Synopsys employees, family, friends and community members participated in day-long volunteer activities focused on youth.

India Highlights
The Bangalore, India office cleaned and beautified Government School of Betta Halli on May 11, 2013. More than 100 volunteers worked side-by-side with 100 students from the school/orphanage to make the facility a better learning and living environment.

Taiwan Highlights
Four Synopsys offices in Hsinchu and Taipei, Taiwan, came together to take a group of 100 disadvantaged children to the Taipei Astronomical Museum on May 18, 2013, for a day of exploration and learning. More than 135 volunteers acted as guides and teachers for the day, showing the children the museum’s exhibits from astronomy to the history of dinosaurs.

China Highlights
On May 12, 2013, the Shanghai, China site brought 50 local migrant children to the Shanghai Children’s Museum for a “Kids Safety Training Camp”. Approximately 80 volunteers taught the children safety and survival skills like how to escape a fire and road safety through interactive teaching games.
