EST Troubleshooting Web Support

Introduction:

The Synopsys EST Web program currently works with all known versions of browsers. If you have a problem connecting to Synopsys Web servers with a browser, the following are some of the most common issues that customers experience. Please check with your network administrator to see if there have been any proxy changes to your network/gateway.

In most cases if you experience some of the following problems when using the "Authenticated Access" option, this usually indicates Proxy(firewall) issues

Note:HTTPS downloads are available as an alternative to FTP

Using this URL http://www.synopsys.com/cgi-bin/est.cgi and trying to log in using your Synopsys SolvNet username and password, you get to the legal page and you click on the "YES, I AGREE TO THE ABOVE TERMS" button.

Error Messages:

-The requested operation could not be performed by the proxy.

-Could not login to FTP server

Suggestions for what to do:

  • You should contact your network administrator to see if there is a security proxy at your site that is preventing you from completing this transaction. If you know there is a security proxy at your site, please contact your network administrator to see if something has changed, or find out how to get around the new configuration on the security proxy. In some cases you may have to use a direct command line session. See command line support for instructions
  • Try typing the following in the URL: "ftp://your-solvnet-username:your-solvnet-password@ftp.synopsys.com" or "ftp://your-solvnet-username@ftp.synopsys.com". This helps get around some proxy issues where the browser has problems transferring the password.
  • You may want to try using another type of browser or another computer on a different network, or connect to another company where you have to use Authenticated Access and see if you get the same results. If you get the same results from other systems at your site, you will need to advise your network administrator of the issue and see if they can help you.
If you need further assistance you may contact est-adm@synopsys.com
