Synopsys/ Former ISE TCAD for Windows
Command shell
ISE recommends using the Windows command shell. ISE does not, in general, test its tools for use in other shells.

Cygwin: A UNIX environment for Windows
Cygwin from Red Hat is part of ISE TCAD for Windows. This distributed Cygwin version corresponds to the version posted on the internet by Red Hat in January 2003. ISE has verified that this Cygwin version works properly with ISE TCAD tools.

Red Hat does not assign version numbers to Cygwin, but supports continual updates through the internet. ISE does not recommend the use of the update feature, because ISE cannot guarantee that all ISE TCAD tools will work properly with updated Cygwin versions.

If you update Cygwin and experience problems that you wish to report, note all of the components that have been updated and differ from the Cygwin libraries distributed on the ISE TCAD CD-ROM.

Mounting Rock Ridge CD-ROMs
Previously, mounting Rock Ridge CD-ROMs on HP required running PFS, which was very unstable. HP now provides patches to mount Rock Ridge CD-ROMs natively for HP-UX 11 and 11i.

Patches for HP-UX 11.00: PHCO_28931, PHKL_23153, PHKL_28935
Patches for HP-UX 11.11: PHCO_25841, PHKL_26269, PHKL_28025

With these patches, the CD-ROMs can be mounted using the command:
mount -orr DEVICENAME MOUNTPOINT
The option -orr denotes mounting a Rock Ridge CD-ROM.

Synopsys/ Former ISE TCAD tools cannot start from the Windows command shell
If the path to the Cygwin binaries is not part of the Windows path variable, ISE TCAD tools cannot start from the Windows command shell. In addition, some menu options in the GENESISe start menu may not work.

Solution
Add the path to the Cygwin binaries to the Windows path variable. For a default installation, this path is \"C:\\cygwin\\bin".
