MAP-in

MAP-in to Milkyway

The Milkyway design database and Environment facilitate the design implementation flow. This widely used database provides the common data repository for integrated circuit design tools, allowing seamless interoperability among implementation and analysis flows.

Overview
Synopsys' Milkyway Access Program (MAP-inSM) program makes the Milkyway Environment and database available to partners and EDA vendors to enable them to have broad and high-performance access to design data. IC designers need to have a broad set of tools in their design flow and integrating tools is inefficient use of their time. By making the Milkyway APIs and software available, EDA vendors can deliver their products already integrated with their customers' Milkyway-based design flow.

Through MAP-in, members receive at no cost a complete run-time viewing and editing environment that allows script development in the Scheme language with direct access to the Milkyway database. All EDA partners and vendors can become MAP-in members and take advantage of the proven and widely used Milkyway Environment and database.

Members of MAP-in receive a free one year license for the Milkyway Environment. The Milkyway Environment includes the Milkyway database, GUI, a simple layout viewer/editor, Scheme interpreter and API. ASCII file support included:

Data Import: Verilog, VHDL, EDIF, LEF, DEF, and GDSII
Data Export: Verilog, VHDL, EDIF, DEF and GDSII

Supported Computing Platforms: 32/64-bit Solaris, 32/64-bit HP-UX, 32-bit Linux

There are two options for MAP-in members:

Basic Program Option includes at no cost:
  • one renewable, one-year license of the Milkyway software and documentation available for development,
  • support via an online discussion forum,
  • interim usage of the Synopsys Secure User Research Facility (S.U.R.F.),
  • MAP-in members may purchase additional Milkyway Environment and C-API licenses at a nominal cost.

Synopsys has added the Milkyway database linkable libraries with the C-API to the program. Members will also receive a one-year C-API runtime license.

Comprehensive Support Option (CSO) for MAP-in members who require additional technical assistance and support includes:

  • the basic program option, plus,
  • dedicated relationship management,
  • basic Milkyway training,
  • interactive support channel for bug reporting and tracking as well as integration consulting,
  • priority scheduling for S.U.R.F. access,
  • up to 40 Milkyway Environment and C-API runtime licenses for development, marketing and applications support,
  • credits for joint marketing activities toward annual CSO fee.

How to become a MAP-in Member
The license for the Milkyway Environment is free and available now. Register Now! to receive your login and password. After filling out the registration page, and submitting the request, the applicant can visit the download page and download the MAP-in documentation and software.

Synopsys will review the application for accuracy and completeness of information. Once Synopsys has verified that the applicant meets the qualification criteria, Synopsys will issue a 60-day runtime license for the software. This typically will be completed within 72 hours of the request. Synopsys will also complete its internal processes to issue one-year licenses.
