Spotlight Synopsys India Community Relations
Synopsys India employees demonstrate their commitment to their local communities through a variety of community service projects.

As Synopsys continues to grow its business operations in India, Synopsys' community involvement and contribution is growing as well, both by the employees and the company. This year, we witnessed a variety of new initiatives and commitment.

Committed to Education
Synopsys sponsored a two-week summer camp at Visvesvaraya Science and Technology museum for 25 students. These students were the participants of Disha'06, the fourth annual science workshops (for teachers as well as students) and exhibition by government high school students in and around Bangalore.

In continuing support for an adopted classroom at Parikrma Foundation, employees donated generously. With a matching Synopsys grant, almost Rs530,000 was given. The students of 'Venus' class at Parikrma of Koramangala center, visited the Synopsys office for half a day. These children expressed their experience at Synopsys Office, through beautiful paintings and letters titled, "My day at Synopsys".

A team of volunteers from the Synopsys Hyderabad office helped students at St. Joan's school by tutoring them in math. Employees also collected text books, story books as well as school supplies and donated them to the Government High School in order to empower them with more knowledge.

Helping schools to bridge the 'digital-divide' has always been one of the top priorities for Synopsys. Laptops were donated to the Asha and Agastya Foundations to help under-privileged students in rural India.

Impacting the Environment
Mr. Gopa Kumar of Nityata Foundation talked about the need for reuse, recycling and consuming less for the sustenance of nature and for a better environment. The talk was not only inspiring but also brought awareness to employees about how our current life style is adversely affecting the environment.

Mr. Viswanath of the Rain Water Club talked about rain water harvesting. As follow up, Synopsys funded a rural research project on water conservation.

Preserving Life
Synopsys organized a blood donation camp in association with AMCHAM (American Chamber of Commerce) and Rotary Bangalore. Even with a small number of resident employees, 86 units of blood were collected because of high employee participation.

Partnering with Eye Bank Association of India, Synopsys Hyderabad employees attended an awareness talk on eye donation and the current need in India. Motivated by the new information, more than 50 people made a pledge toward future eye sight.
