The DesignWare® ARC™ Audio Sample Rate Converter for the DesignWare ARC AS211SFX and AS221BD audio processors provides a programmable solution for sample rate conversion. Sample rate conversion (SRC) is used in embedded systems to align audio streams with differing sampling rates. Typical examples include input and output devices such as I2S, SPDIF, USB and HDMI for audio processors, but also the various other digital audio formats present within a system.
The DesignWare ARC Audio Sample Rate Converter is efficiently implemented using cascaded poly-phase Finite Impulse Response (FIR) filtering, with a low-pass filter for up-sampling and down-sampling. Its algorithm is based on an interpolation-decimation method.
Filter coefficients as well as other parameters are provided to the SRC via the API function call. With the supplied filter tables a large range of conversion ratios can be supported.
