PrimeTime Special Interest Group (SIG) at DAC 2012 

The Synopsys PrimeTime SIG is an active community for all PrimeTime users and design engineers who want to stay connected with the latest developments in the field of Static Timing Analysis (STA).


PrimeTime SIG at DAC 2012

A PrimeTime SIG event was held in San Francisco during DAC on Monday, June 4, 2012. One hundred and eighty PrimeTime users and managers attended the event from more than sixty eight semiconductor companies. The theme of this SIG was Next-generation Hierarchical Timing Technology — HyperScale. Eighteen Ecosystem Partners, along with PrimeTime R&D, participated and interacted with attendees.

Brian Bailey
EETimes
Brian was the session chair for the PrimeTime SIG at DAC 2012. He introduced the topic and the speakers of the evening and moderated the Q&A panel. He made the pub quiz conducted at the end of the event even more fun.


Rich Laubhan
LSI
Rich shared LSI’s experience on deploying HyperScale on 4 live designs. The highlights of his talk were the usage of new Constraint Extractor that allows block level constraints to be aligned with full-chip constraints easing HyperScale deployment and their plan to include HyperScale in their HiDef flow.


Richard Philips
NVIDIA
Richard provided insight into the growing design size challenge along with heavy reuse of IPs in NVIDIA designs and its impact to timing. He showed the tight accuracy of HyperScale results on millions of paths in a recent GPU design and revealed that accurate block-level context modeling with HyperScale greatly improves tapeout time.


Byung-su Kim
Samsung
Byung-su highlighted Samsung’s interests in deploying HyperScale as their next-generation hierarchical flow because of the fast HyperScale runtimes with signoff accuracy, eliminating the need for cumbersome models and providing an automated top and block timing flow.


Patrick Fortner
Synopsys
Patrick manages the HyperScale project within the PrimeTime R&D team. He introduced the technology and its benefits that make HyperScale unique. He pointed out the challenges of model-based hierarchical flow and how HyperScale and Constraint Extractor make it easier to deploy as well as how it amalgamates with the PrimeTime ECO technology for block and top level timing closure.
