PrimeTime SIG at SNUG India 2012
A PrimeTime SIG event was held in Bengaluru during SNUG India on Wednesday, June 13, 2012.
One hundred and sixty PrimeTime users and managers attended the event from more than thirty four semiconductor companies. The theme of this SIG was Next-generation Hierarchical Timing Technology — HyperScale.
Presenters from LSI, NVIDIA, and TI presented their experiences with HyperScale, and attendees were able to interact with the PrimeTime R&D team during this dinner event.

Jagan was the session chair for the PrimeTime SIG at India SNUG 2012. He introduced the topic and the speakers of the evening and moderated the Q&A panel.
Puneet shared the LSI experience on deploying HyperScale on four live designs. His talk highlighted the usage of the new Constraint Extractor, which eased HyperScale deployment by allowing block-level constraints to be aligned with full-chip constraints. He also described their plan to include HyperScale in their HiDef flow.
Rangarajan provided insight into the challenge of growing design sizes, heavy reuse of IPs in NVIDIA designs, and its impact to timing. He showed the tight accuracy of HyperScale results on millions of paths in a recent GPU design and revealed that accurate block-level closure with HyperScale greatly improves tapeout time.
Rajagopal highlighted TI’s interests in deploying HyperScale as their next-generation hierarchical flow because of the fast HyperScale runtimes with signoff accuracy, eliminating the need for cumbersome models and providing an automated top and block timing flow.
Ali is a Sr. R&D manager in the PrimeTime R&D team. He introduced the technology and its benefits that make HyperScale unique. He pointed out the challenges of model-based hierarchical flow and how HyperScale and Constraint Extractor makes it easier to deploy as well as how it gels with the PrimeTime ECO technology for block and top level timing closure.
