Rohde & Schwarz and Synopsys Collaborate on LTE / LTE-A
On May 23rd, Rohde & Schwarz and Synopsys announced the formation of a strategic collaboration to accelerate the design and verification of chipsets, handsets and base stations that serve the next-generation LTE and LTE-Advanced standards. The collaboration provides a complete solution that seamlessly bridges the gap between system design and hardware prototype verification.

With the June release of SPW and System Studio, initial results are already available to our customers.

  • Synopsys' LTE and LTE-Advanced libraries are verified against Rohde & Schwarz's test and measurement solutions, increasing designer confidence in achieving standards compliance.
  • Reduced time-to-first-test and more efficient interaction between algorithm designers and hardware testers, as parameter configuration can be exchanged between the simulation and the Rohde & Schwarz test equipment.

LTE-Advanced Model Library Available
Beginning with the June 2011 release customers of the LTE library have access to the LTE-A(dvanced) enhancements that have been added to the library. No additional license key is required, all LTE-A capabilities come as a maintenance update to all LTE library licensees. Looking for Ready-to-Use Signal-processing Models? Find Them On the Synopsys Website!
Both SPW and System Studio each come with more than 3,000 signal-processing models, all included in the base package at no extra charge. This also includes full system-configurations and end-to-end system simulations according to standard specifications, all with complete scripting. The breadth and depth of these model libraries go all the way from individual filters, coders etc. to complete LTE-A transmitter, channel and receiver models.
Available for System Studio initially, on the Synopsys website you can now browse through the model and system libraries, read the native model descriptions, find out about the parameters, ports and more. Customer Success: JAXA
The primary mission of the Institute of Space and Astronautical Science (ISAS) within the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) is to advance space science in Japan. Through collaboration with universities, ISAS conducts scientific research in outer space contributing to JAXA's and Japan's entire space development efforts. For their latest project, the team needed to develop a fast (~250M symbols/sec), low power modem for a nano satellite (‹100kg) downlink communication system, to be deployed in future satellite projects. They chose to deploy SPW.
