Design and Verification of the Physical Layer 

Overview
The 3GPP LTE (Long Term Evolution) standard is de facto standard for future high speed mobile communication systems. This new standard is now being referred to as 4G, which features high data rates and low latency, based on a packet-based protocol. Given the adoption of 3G LTE in Europe, the USA and Asia, it is also the first truly globally unified standard. On Dec 11th, 2008, Release 8 of the 3g LTE standard was named as the final functional specification of LTE.

Attendees of this seminar will gain an understanding of the LTE physical layer modulation and coding schemes as defined in Release 8 of the 3GPP standards. This includes presentations on the core physical layer technologies such as OFDM, SC-FDMA and MIMO and their application within LTE.

The format of the seminar is a mixture of presentation and presenter demonstrations, featuring LTE physical layer simulations using Synopsys System Studio and the LTE physical layer model library from Steepest Ascent to illustrate the presented concepts.

This seminar is free of charge and will be jointly presented by Synopsys and Steepest Ascent, pre-registration is required.

Who Should Attend
The seminar is suitable for all engineering, technical marketing and technical management staff wishing to gain an understanding of the techniques and processing involved in the physical layer of 3GPP LTE systems.

Prerequisites
This seminar has been carefully designed to present the complex mathematical theory often associated with wireless and mobile physical llayer algroithms in an intuitive and straightforward style to a wide audience of engineers and project managers. To benefit from the seminar, it is recommended that the attendees have the following knowledge:

  • Fundamentals of DSP
  • Basic Tx/Rx modulation and digital communication systems
  • Bachelor level mathematics (or higher)
