Synopsys India is represented by Synopsys (India) Pvt Limited which is the R&D arm and Synopsys (India) EDA Software Pvt Limited which is catering to local sales and pre-sales activities in the region. With the R&D and Field Offices in the region, Synopsys India is now a full fledged corporate set-up with representations from every Synopsys business unit. The company has presence in three cities namely Bangalore, Hyderabad and Noida.
Located in the heart of Bangalore, the "silicon valley" of India, Synopsys India is especially attractive as a high tech center because of India's strong educational system in engineering and science; both at the under-graduate and graduate levels. Synopsys India started operations in Bangalore in 1995.
First started as a offshore development center, with $4 million initial investment, Synopsys India occupied two floors in Sheriff Chambers on the Richmond road. About 10 engineers worked on chip design related projects primarily in the area of tool application and evaluation for the synthesis business unit.
Over 500 employees and 100 business associates work out of the three Sites in India to support local & global sales as well as partner different product teams located across the globe. The activities performed are in the areas of development, testing and verification. Illustratively the software development of EDA tools, verification, chip design applications and methodologies, design services and consulting. The company has now moved into a 100,000 sq. ft. office space in RMZ Infinity at Old Madras Road, Benniganahalli, equipped with the state-of-the-art computing and network infrastructure and dedicated satellite and fiber links to the parent office in Mt.View.

Tool design for electronics design and verification is the fundamental work at Synopsys. EDA tools are specialized software that help design and verify chips and electronics systems on the computer. To build good EDA tools, a thorough knowledge of logic design, computer architecture and programming languages (C/C++) is required. Synopsys India annually recruits sharp CS/EE graduates from IITs and RECs to train them on EDA tool development. Synopsys India also hires experienced software engineers, who have a flair for logic design, from the local IT industry.
EDA tools are generally more complex than other software tools. The quality of design implementation often depends on how well the design tool is used for the job. To aid designers with the tool flow problems and design methodologies, and sometimes to help them with the actual circuit design, Synopsys India has a team of engineers who are experts in logic design and chip design tool applications. These engineers offer consultation to Synopsys worldwide customers on chip/FPGA designs and design methodologies. Synopsys India hires experienced chip/logic designers from the industry to this team.

Industrial Training
Annually, pre-final and final year graduates in CS/EE disciplines from different IITs and RECs are offered industrial training in different product groups within Synopsys India. The program exposes budding engineers to the actual working environment within the EDA industry. Students are included in the product development teams and are assigned independent exploratory type development jobs. These students are then often offered jobs by the respective department.
Campus Recruitment
Many of the new employees in Synopsys India come from campus recruitment from IITs and RECs. Synopsys India is the preferred employer at the campuses every year. Students who wish to pursue careers in core software development and VLSI design eagerly await Synopsys placement interviews. Joint Venture
Many business groups of Synopsys Inc. execute projects within Synopsys India. Some of the R&D groups have collaboration with IITs (and IISc) to jointly research ideas in specific product domains.
