In this article, we provide a brief overview of key additions to some of our existing solutions as well as showcase recent innovations to Synopsys’ ever-growing lineup of software, IP and services.

The Virtualizer toolset is an integral part of the Synopsys comprehensive solution for early software development. Virtualizer addresses the increasing development challenges associated with software-rich semiconductor and electronic products by enabling companies to accelerate both the development and deployment of virtual prototypes. The latest release of the Virtualizer tool set speeds Virtualizer Development Kit (VDK) development, by enabling efficient collaboration among modeling teams, along with easier management and exchange of virtual prototypes for complex designs.

Synopsys Platform Architect with Multicore Optimization Technology provides architects and system designers with SystemC TLM tools and methods for the efficient design, performance analysis and optimization of multicore SoC architectures. The latest release of Platform Architect MCO adds support for SBL-400 SystemC model of the ARM CoreLink NIC-400 network interconnect enable SoC architects to efficiently explore thousands of system configurations, visualize the impact that interconnect and memory subsystem parameters have on system performance, power, and cost, and identify the optimum combination for their SoC design early in the development process. The integration of Platform Architect MCO with the AMBA Designer tool efficiently manages the configuration information for system-level exploration, and uses the configuration checks in AMBA Designer to validate the candidate architecture.

VCS® Verification Planning and Management Solution
Industry leaders of today’s most advanced SoCs rely on the Synopsys VCS functional verification solution to develop their high-quality designs. Given the rise in design complexity, the management of verification data and projects is increasingly important for developers. VCS provides a scalable and integrated verification planning, management and analysis solution for metric-driven verification. It is built on top of our coverage database, which stores all the relevant verification data in an extremely efficient format with an open API. The VCS verification planning and management solution tracks coverage and test data in order to correlate results with project goals, so teams know where they are in the verification process and how they have allocated resources. These features are available in VCS 2013.06.

|DesignWare® ARC® Processor Cores|
Synopsys’ DesignWare ARC Processor Cores are a family of 32-bit CPUs that SoC designers can optimize for a wide range of uses, from deeply embedded to high-performance host applications. The new ARC HS cores are designed for state of the art consumer applications, such as digital TVs, cameras, automobiles, home networks, mobile devices, and much more. Designers can differentiate their products by using patented configuration technology to tailor each ARC core instance to meet specific performance, power and area requirements.
