Dr. Hovik Musayelyan
Director of Synopsys Armenia
Dr. Hovik Musayelyan is the Director of Synopsys Armenia CJSC. He also serves as the Director of Synopsys for Armenia Charitable Foundation.
Dr. Musayelyan is a member of the Executive Board of the State Engineering University of Armenia, the Board of Trustees of the European Regional Educational Academy as well as the Board of the Yerevan State University. He is the head of the Committee of the Annual Educational Award of the President of the Republic of Armenian in IT Sphere, as well as the Chairman of the State Committee under the auspices of the RA PM awarding annual awards to the Best IT Managers. He also chairs the Executive Board of the Global Award of the President of the Republic of Armenia for Outstanding Contribution to Humanity through IT. Dr. Musayelyan is a member of the Union of Manufacturers and Businessmen of Armenia Presidium, as well as a Board member of the Union of IT Enterprises of Armenia.
In 2009, according to the RA President’s decree, Hovik Musayelyan was elected as a Public Council member.
Since 2010, Dr. Musayelyan is a member of the Ministry of Education and Science Board of the Republic of Armenia. In 2011, Hovik Musayelyan became a member of the Engineering Academy of Armenia as well as was elected a foreign member of the Engineering Academy of Russia. The same year, he was elected the President of SEUA Alumni Association and a member of the Board of the Pan Armenian Bank. In 2013 he became a member of the Yerevan City Council.
Prior to joining Synopsys in 2004, Hovik Musayelyan served as the Director of the Armenian branch of Leda Systems. From 1997 he has been engaged in the IT sector. In 1996 he worked as the head of the Foreign Affairs Department in Municipality of Yerevan. From 1993 to 1995 Hovik Musayelyan worked in the Armenian Government as the Assistant to the Deputy Prime Minister, and as a Chief Expert of the Foreign Affairs Department. From 1987 to 1993 he was involved in a private business. From 1980 to 1984 he was employed in the manufacturing sector.
Dr. Musayelyan finished physics and mathematics school under the direction of Yerevan State University. Thereupon, he graduated from the Department of Civil Engineering of State Engineering University of Armenia after Karl Marks. Dr. Musayelyan entered the Moscow Scientific-Research Institute of Industrial Materials in 1984 as a PhD student. In 1987 he was granted PhD in Technical Sciences.
In 2006, he was awarded the Anania Shirakatsi medal commemorating the 15th anniversary of the independence of Armenia. In 2008, Dr. Hovik Musayelyan was awarded the highest award of the State Engineering University of Armenia – the SEUA Gold Medal. In 2008, he was also awarded the Gold Medal by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Armenia. The same year, for outstanding contribution to the Armenia’s IT sector, he received the Mercury award by the decree of Chamber of Commerce and Industry. In 2009, Dr. Musayelyan was awarded the Garegin Nzhdeh medal by the RA Minister of Defense, and the highest award of the Yerevan State University – Gold Medal. In 2011, he was awarded the Title of Honorary Professor by the Engineering Academy of Armenia.
In 2012 he was awarded the RA UMBA gold medal for the major contribution into IT sector and valuable input to prepare quality specialists. In the same year, according to the decree of ERA board of trustees, was awarded the academy gold medal for the outstanding contribution into academia-industry cooperation.
