Synopsys Inc. Establishes Distance Learning Classroom for the State Engineering University of Armenia (SEUA)

YEREVAN - September 20, 2005- Today, the donation of Distance Learning Classroom to State Engineering University of Armenia (SEUA) by Synopsys Armenia took place. It was carried out in the framework of the cooperation which since November 1, 2004 has been implementing according to the Cooperation agreement between SEUA and Synopsys Armenia. This cooperation is unique in a sense that the Chair of State University acts on the basis of private company that trains specialists for Synopsys’ employment. Synopsys Armenia supports SEUA’s interdepartmental “Microelectronic Circuits and Systems” (MCS) Chair (Synopsys Armenia’s Educational Center) to accomplish the educational process in high level. In particular, Synopsys provides the Chair with the most modern classrooms with the best computers, equipment, hardware & software. Synopsys also pays all expenses that deal with educational process. Today’s graduates are well equipped with the technological skills necessary to meet the highest international standards.

The joint efforts of Synopsys Armenia and SEUA have resulted in the preparation of these talented specialists to contribute to the national engineering workforce. Remarking on the students’ achievements and high level, Dr. de Geus said during the commencement of 2005: “I am impressed when I meet the students that are interns at Synopsys Armenia and see how talented and eager they are to work in this field. We respect and share your goal to be technology leaders in a free-enterprise, democratic society. That is why Synopsys has invested more in educational programs here, and built a larger business base here, than any other foreign high-tech company.”

It is worth mentioning that Synopsys made a significant contribution to the educational process by providing 50 complete packages of the company’s EDA (Electronic Design Automation) tools. The total cost of this contribution is 260mln USD. These tools are currently being used with great effectiveness.

Synopsys assists not only the above mentioned Chair, but also the donor departments of SEUA where completing the first two years of studies the students come to study in Synopsys Armenia’s educational Center (SEUA’s interdepartmental “Microelectronic Circuits and Systems” Chair).

Today, the educational center of Synopsys Armenia provides SEUA with Distance Learning Classroom the cost of which exceeds 20000USD. It includes 17 computers that meet modern standards and other necessary techniques and software.

At Distance Learning Classroom inauguration ceremony Synopsys Armenia CEO, Synopsys, Inc. VP of Strategic Market Development Rich Goldman and SEUA rector, Academician of RA National Academy of Science Yu. Sargsyan made speeches expressing their satisfaction about cooperation process. They stated that the donated classroom would favor the development of SEUA’s infrastructure, consequently the enhancement of student level as well. They also expressed hope for further productive collaboration.

In the result Chair’s graduates have high level and the majority of them complete the rows of Synopsys Armenia employees.
