Opening ceremony of the Second Armenian Microelectronics Olympiad
On September 26, 2007 in the newly opened building of Synopsys Armenia CJSC, the opening ceremony of the Second Armenian Microelectronics Olympiad took place. The following people made welcome speeches at the opening ceremony: Synopsys President and COO Chi-Foon Chan; Synopsys Vice-President for Corporate Marketing and Strategic Market Alliances, Synopsys Armenia CJSC CEO, Organizing Committee President of the Olympiad, Rich Goldman; and Synopsys Armenia CJSC Executive Director, Hovik Musayelyan. Among the guests present were: Deputy General Manager of Synopsys Armenia CJSC, Andranik Hovhannisyan; Business Unit Technical Director, Hayk Hovhannisyan; Synopsys Armenia CJSC Educational Department Director, Olympiad Program Committee President, Vazgen Melikyan; Organizing and Program Committee member, RA NAS President, Radik Martirosyan; Founder of Viasphere Technopark CJSC, Tony Moroyan; General Manager Aram Vardanyan; rectors of Armenia’s leading universities; representatives of companies, sponsoring the Olympiad; and other top-level guests.
The Olympiad was held in two stages. Students of universities as well as specialists in microelectronics companies were among the participants.
The first stage was held on September 18, 2007 at Synopsys Armenia CJSC in the format of a quiz giving the students a test with relatively easy questions in the Educational Department of Synopsys Armenia CJSC. 118 participants took part in the first stage, 48 of which passed to the second stage.
The second stage of the Olympiad was held on September 26 2007, in the format of a competition - participants were given problems requiring particular solutions. On September 26 2007, the awards ceremony and reception took place at the Congress Hotel. Participants of the First and Second Armenian Microelectronics Olympiads, other top-level guests, and Olympiad winners attended.
