Working with City Year’s Care Force team, volunteers as young as three years old were divided into small teams to work on specific projects including building picnic tables and benches, replacing kickball walls and painting murals and inspirational quotes throughout the school. Nearly 2,400 volunteer hours transformed Cureton Elementary for the 520 kindergarten to 5th grade students that attend, brightening their learning environment and letting them know the community believes in their potential.

Events around the World
During the week of May 11-18, 2013, Synopsys’ new community outreach program called Global Volunteer Week was launched. Five of the company’s largest sites – Bangalore, India; Hillsboro, Oregon; Mountain View, California; Shanghai, China and Taipei & Hsinchu, Taiwan – came together to hold large-scale, day long volunteer activities focusing on youth. Youth is an expansion of Synopsys’ focus on education and the single, devoted cause helped unite employees worldwide. Like Mountain View, Bangalore and Hillsboro held school refurbishment projects, while Shanghai held a “kids safety training camp” for migrant children and Taiwan took a group of 100 underprivileged children to the Taipei Astronomical Museum for a day of exploration.
Synopsys’ inaugural Global Volunteer Week was a success with nearly 800 employees, family, friends and community members coming together to create a strong spirit of volunteerism in our local communities around the world.
